This is a beautiful example of a final facelift R129 SL, in a light and bright colour scheme that suits the model so well. All aspects of the car are in close to as-new condition, commensurate with the tiny mileage covered. We believe that the soft top has never been used.
It was supplied new by Strattons of Wilmslow in January 1999. Strattons were a Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Ferrari dealer, and were very well known as being one of the first official AMG dealers in the UK, with many celebrities and public figures coming to them for their AMG tuned Mercedes cars.
This car was ordered by a lady from Bowdon, Cheshire. She has been the only owner, and has only parted with it because she now has a new SL to replace it.
A car that has covered only a little over 1,000 miles per annum over a period of 18 years has had to have led an unusual life. Many times however, sporadic use and long periods of inactivity act to the detriment of a car. In this case it was always taxed upto late 2014 and regularly used for local journeys, supplemented by the occasional trip to France. Since early 2015, when it was replaced by a new SL, it has resided under a dustsheet in the spacious and well ventilated private underground car park at her gated residence, connected to a trickle charger and exercised periodically.
Despite the tiny mileage covered, servicing has always been carried out at reasonable intervals timewise, with five entries in the book from local Mercedes-Benz dealers and five from an independent prestige car specialist in Knutsford. No service interval has been more than 4,500 miles, and several have been just a few 
hundred. As well as the fully completed service book we have MOT records back to 2005 and most of the service and repair invoices. We also have the new car order form, sales invoice in the sum of £60,000 and handover documentation.
It is a pleasure to drive, with instant response and ample power, and still has that new car feel, as befits the low mileage covered and the fastidious maintenance regime which has been followed.
We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car in our own workshop. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out. A schedule of this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
