This car represented the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz technology and build quality when it was supplied new in 1994, and it is fitted with virtually every comfort and safety option then available. It still outclasses most other cars in terms of comfort, refinement, performance and presence on the road. When the model was new many thought its styling quite brutal, but the years have mellowed its appearance, and compared to the latest offerings from the prestige brands it looks rather elegant. The pristine metallic grey paintwork gives the car an understated but imposing look, matching perfectly with the unmarked soft grey leather interior which is a few shades lighter.

It was supplied new in September 1994 by Mercedes-Benz of Edgware Road, London to the managing director of a major marketing consultancy in London, and he kept it for eight years. During his ownership it was serviced four times by the supplying dealer, three times by Mercedes-Benz of Sunningdale and once by Normand Mercedes-Benz of Mayfair, which took it to around 36,000 miles.

In 2002 it was purchased by a gentleman from Reigate, Surrey, then in 2003 it moved again to a gentleman in St Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex, where it shared garage space with a collection of prestige cars. This owner kept the car for six years but only covered around 10,000 miles during that time. The MOT records show that during the last four years of his ownership it was hardly used at all. Nevertheless he had it serviced three times by an independent  prestige car specialist in Hastings while he owned it.

In 2009 it briefly passed to a motor dealer in Hailsham, Sussex, before going to a South African gentleman based in Northampton. He had to part with it when he returned to his native country in 2011, and we supplied it to its next owner, a repeat customer of ours living in Driffield, North Yorkshire. He owned several cars, and the coupe was kept for special occasions only. As a result it covered under 3,000 miles during his four year tenure. In 2015 we supplied it to its latest owner, a gentleman from Congleton, Cheshire. He was in a similar position of having several cars and keeping this one for best, so again it has only done around 3,000 miles since he purchased it.

The service history for this car is second to none. We have every service invoice from 12,000 miles to date, many MOT certificates as far back as 2002 and a thick file of invoices for non-scheduled repairs, maintenance and parts dating all the way back to when the car was new, showing a dedication to maintaining the car regardless of expense by all of its owners. In addition we have the first owner’s handwritten log detailing every item of expenditure during his eight years of ownership. The car will be serviced in our own workshop prior to sale.

As well as always being properly maintained at low mileage intervals, the car has been very well looked after physically. Every aspect of bodywork, paint, brightwork, glass, wheels and trim are immaculate, with hardly any detectable wear to the interior appointments.

From behind the wheel the impression is of smooth silent perfection, with ample space and every comfort for four passengers over any distance. Handling is very sharp thanks to the AMG suspension and wheel package. Cruising is absolutely effortless and acceleration very impressive, with just a distant V8 growl when progress becomes more urgent. By contrast, slow speed handling is very precise, and thanks to the very tight turning circle, speed sensitive power steering and light throttle the car feels much smaller than it really is when maneuvering.

This is a very special car, and one which will be a lasting pleasure for its new owner. The number of top condition, low mileage examples of this model remaining is now very small, which can only mean that its value will increase in future years provided it is looked after  in the way that it has been accustomed.

We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car in our own workshop. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out (see above). A schedule of this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
