The 190E model is such a handy and easy car to live with that as they have got older most have been abused and neglected at the hands of a succession of uncaring owners, and it is very rare to find one in good condition. This one has escaped that fate. It has been very sparingly used by only three caring owners and properly maintained at the correct intervals.
It was supplied new by HMG Mercedes-Benz of Bromley, Kent in August 1992 to a gentleman in Biggin Hill. He kept the car for 15 years until 2007, covering around 64,000 miles in that time. It then went to his brother in Norwich, who kept it for a further six years until 2013, taking the total mileage up to 81,000. We then purchased it and supplied it to a retired doctor from Horwich, Lancashire. He has owned it until now, but has now part-exchanged it with us for a W124 coupe, so it is once again available to a new owner.
It has been garaged and well cared for for its entire life, and is still in exceptional condition throughout with scarcely a mark inside or out. It is a credit to all three of its owners.
Servicing has been very thorough with 22 stamps in the book, ten of which are from the supplying dealer and their successors, three from other Mercedes-Benz dealers, six from independent Mercedes specialists and three from non-franchised garages. As well as the above we have all MOT certificates since 1998, almost every service and maintenance invoice since the car was new, and even the original new car order form and purchase invoice in the sum of £19,450.
190E saloons in good condition have become very sought-after in recent years, as the supply of well kept low mileage examples has dwindled. This one will become a treasured possession for its new owner and will be widely admired wherever it goes. As a result of its careful maintenance the driving experience is like that of a much younger car, and provides ample explanation for the high esteem that Mercedes cars of this era were held in.
We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out. A schedule of this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
