This is a gorgeous example of the W123 coupe which has been treasured by each of its owners, who must all have known exactly what care and attention is required to keep a car in top condition. At 35 years of age, and with an average of under 3,500 miles covered per annum, it is equal in condition to many cars a tenth of its age.
It was supplied new by Westwood Mercedes-Benz of Blackburn in January 1985, and stayed in the West Lancashire area with four owners for 27 years. The last of these, a gentleman from near Bolton, kept the car for 13 years. In 2012 it went to its fifth owner, an aeronautical engineer near Leicester, who kept it for four years. In 2016 we supplied it to its latest owner, a gentleman in Surrey, who has only covered 2,000 miles during his four years of ownership.
In the service book there are 11 stamps from garages in the West Lancashire and Leicestershire areas, and one from ourselves. We understand that the third owner, an RAF engineer, maintained the car himself and carried out the services between 72,000 and 90,000 miles which are not stamped. We have almost all of the old MOT certificates dating back to the very first one, together with many old tax discs and recent service invoices.
The car looks very elegant in the rich burgundy metallic paint colour, which is complemented by the unmarked pale beige cloth interior. It is in wonderful condition throughout and drives superbly.
