£SOLD

This beautiful car was supplied new by Alan Day Mercedes-Benz of Finchley in June 1967, and according to DVLA has had a total of five owners. The penultimate owner, a doctor from Harrogate, owned it for 18 years from 1985 to 2003. The latest owner, a Mercedes-Benz Club member from Derby, has owned it for the subsequent 15 years until now.

The car has always been well maintained, sympathetically used and kept in good condition, so has never needed complete restoration. Over the last 35 years with its two latest owners however it has been the subject of continuous and unstinting expenditure to bring it up to its current superb condition cosmetically, structurally and mechanically. This is well documented in the substantial history file that goes with the vehicle.

Notable items of expenditure during that period have been: bodywork overhaul and full repaint (pre 2003), fuel injection pump overhaul (2004), new outer cills (2004), new exhaust system (2005), new ignition coil (2006), new soft top (2006), new distributor cap and ignition leads (2007), full engine rebuild (2007), new inertia reel seatbelts (2007), new brake servo (2008), retrimmed seats and interior panels (2009), installation of electronic ignition (2012), new tyres (2012), suspension overhaul (2016), steering overhaul (2016), Waxoyl injected rustproofing.

Total mileage covered during the period of the above upgrades has only been around 12,000, so items like paint and trim show only very minor signs of use. Condition throughout is excellent and the car drives beautifully as befits the caring owners it has had.

As well as the history file referred to above, we have all the original handbooks, spare keys etc, and the original service book with 12 Mercedes-Benz dealer stamps going as far as 59,000 miles in 1976. We also have the majority of the service and repair invoices from the period 1985 to the present day. All MoT certificates for the last 22 years are present, showing continuous and regular mileage progression from 79,000 in 1996 up to the current figure. We will service it before handover to its new owner, so it will be ready for a further 3,000 miles before any scheduled attention is needed.

Quality examples of this model have been increasing steadily in value over recent years, and this trend shows no sign of slowing. Superb examples such as this one can therefore be thought of as a sound investment which is also a lovely thing to own and use.

We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car in our own workshop. Any significant faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out. A schedule of this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
