We don’t generally expect to see diesel versions of the W124 saloon in anything but worn-out condition these days, and good ones are incredibly rare to find. Their owners have usually purchased them precisely because of their huge mile-eating qualities and run them up to enormous mileages, often with very little maintenance, leaving them fit for little more than a final journey to the scrap yard. This car is a rare exception to that trend, having been used sparingly by four careful owners and maintained without regard to expense.
It is a middle period model, unchanged in frontal appearance since the W124 was launched in 1986, and with the more prominent grille than the later cars, but with the later plastic ‘Sacco boards’ along the lower side panels. The very pale gold/bronze paintwork, together with the anthracite interior, add to the classic style and look absolutely right for the period.
The car has had a comprehensive service history, but unfortunately the documents were mislaid by the penultimate owner, an elderly Italian gentleman from Stockport, now sadly deceased. It is however obvious from even a cursory 
inspection that it has been cherished throughout its life, and a brief drive does nothing to dispel this impression, with all controls feeling tight and precise. The engine and drivetrain still give that lusty, unstoppable urge that the Mercedes diesels of this era are famed for. This rare machine will become a treasured possession for its new owner and will be widely admired wherever it goes.
We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out. A schedule of this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
