jhl04The 190E model is such a handy and easy car to live with that as they have got older most have been abused and neglected at the hands of a succession of uncaring owners, and it is very rare to find one in good condition. This one has escaped that fate. It has been very sparingly used by only two caring owners and properly maintained at the correct intervals.

It was supplied new by Lancaster Europa Mercedes-Benz of Sheffield in November 1992 to a local lady. Before delivery she commissioned them to supply and fit, at considerable expense, the body styling equipment supplied by the well-known Belgian firm of Carat-Duchatelet, comprising front and rear bumpers, side skirts and boot spoiler. She also had them fit the same company’s five spoke flat face alloy wheels with concealed bolts. The overall effect is very subtle, but has the effect of sharpening up the already crisp styling of the 190E and making it something of a head turner compared to the standard Mercedes saloons of the era. The stunning metallic turquoise paint finish adds to this effect and makes for a very distinctive and remarkable car.

jhl20She also ordered it with air conditioning, which is quite a rare and sought-after option on the 190E. Needless to say it still works perfectly.

She kept the car for 18 years until 2010, covering a mere 15,000 miles in that time. It was then purchased by another local man for the sole purpose of taking his elderly mother out for Sunday drives, as she found his everyday car difficult to get in and out of. This has been its sole use for the last six years, but she is now too infirm to travel so he has reluctantly parted with it.

It has been garaged and pampered for its entire life, and its close to perfect condition throughout is a credit to both its owners.

Servicing has been very thorough with ten stamps in the book, two of which are from the supplying dealer, five from a local Rover dealer and three from a trusted local garage. The average actual service interval has been 1,656 miles as against the manufacturer’s recommendation of 6,000, and in no case has it been greater than 3,000 miles. As well as the above we also have all MOT records since 2005.

jhl17190E saloons in top condition have become very sought-after in recent years, as the supply of well kept low mileage examples has dwindled. This one will become a treasured possession for its new owner and will be widely admired wherever it goes. It will be just as pleasurable as a sparingly used daily driver or a weekend concours winner. As a result of its ultra-low mileage and careful maintenance the driving experience is sublime, and provides ample explanation for the high esteem that Mercedes cars of this era were held in.

We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out. A schedule of this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
