Tourmaline Green metallic, brand new black power operated soft top with glass heated rear window, Orion Grey leather, Sport Chassis, 4 speed automatic gearbox, air conditioning, cruise control, heated electric front seats, wood and leather steering wheel, Sportline leather gearknob, original Sportline exterior badging, driver and passenger airbags, front and rear armrests, central storage box, original Sportline 8 hole alloy wheels, recent Sony radio/CD/MP3 player, full service history all with MB dealers and specialists, supported by all MOT records since 2005 and many service invoices, 103,000 miles.
This is one of only 557 E320 cabriolets officially imported to the UK, and is even rarer than that statistic suggests by being one of the very few to be specified with the desirable Sportline option, comprising lowered and uprated springs, uprated dampers, roll bars and bushes, wider wheels and tyres, higher geared steering rack and special badging. It is also equipped with a very high options list. It looks very distinguished in its immaculate dark green metallic paint with a beautiful grey leather interior and brand new black soft top.
It was personally collected from the factory by its first owner, a gentleman from Nottingham, in September 1995, but was not UK registered until March 1996. By May 1996 it had moved to another keeper in Reigate, which suggests that the first owner may have been a dealer or speculator taking advantage of the scarcity of this model, as the last ones had already been built by then. The second owner kept it for over ten years until November 2006, and took the mileage to 50,000, at which point it was purchased by a senior Microsoft employee in Dublin. We bought it from him in April 2011 with the mileage standing at 77,000 and supplied it to one of the directors of a well-known Mercedes-Benz dealership in the Midlands, where it became part of the owning family’s personal collection. A shake up at the dealership caused it to become available again after only two years, having covered only around 700 miles while in their care, so we bought it back and supplied it to a gentleman near Swindon, where it joined his classic Land Rover and Triumph Stag. He loved taking the car on continental tours and added a further 24,000 miles during his three year tenure. Eventually he had to reduce his stable due to a change in personal circumstances, so we bought it back again and supplied it to a regular customer of ours in Nantwich, Cheshire, in February 2016. He is a serial owner and serious fan of E320 cabriolets and intended to use this one as his regular business car, but shortly after acquiring it his work pattern changed, meaning that he no longer needs a long distance car. So, after he had only driven it a little over 1,000 miles, it is once more available to a new owner.
Every owner has taken the upkeep of the car very seriously, and the service history is excellent, with a total of 15 stamps in the service book, of which seven are from MB dealers, seven from independent MB specialists and one from a non-franchised garage. In addition we have many old MOT certificates and invoices on file.
The physical condition is similarly excellent, with gleaming paintwork, glistening chrome, brand new soft top, pristine interior trim and all fixtures and fittings in full working order. It drives beautifully and feels like a much younger and lower mileage car.
We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car in our own workshop. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out. A schedule of this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
