This lovely vehicle was supplied new by Sunningdale Carriage Company of Ascot to a local gentleman in October 1988, and spent the first two years of its life there with very few miles covered. It then went to Cheshire, where it stayed until around 1998 with several registered keepers, including some company to private owner transfers and keeper changes for plate transfer reasons. By that time, at ten years old, it had done around 82,000 miles. After that it went to a gentleman in Chesterfield, where it stayed for seven years of sparing use until purchased by a musician from Leicester, who used it equally sparingly. He sold it to us due to lack of use, having only driven it around 4,000 miles in the ten years he owned it.
In March 2015 we supplied it to a retired gentleman in Blackpool. He had nowhere to keep it, so stored it with us and periodically took the train to us on sunny days to take it out for a run. Unfortunately the direct rail service from Blackpool has now been discontinued, making it impractical for him to continue this pattern of use, so we have purchased it back from him and it is now available once more to a new owner. He covered less than 1,000 miles during his period of ownership.
It has been serviced regularly for the whole of its life, even during the recent years of very low usage. The majority of the stamps in the service book are from Mercedes-Benz franchised dealers. We have every MOT certificate since 1999 and many service and maintenance invoices from recent years. We will service it before handover to its new owner, so it will be ready for a further 6,000 miles before any scheduled attention is needed.
It is in gorgeous condition throughout and drives beautifully, with the sonorous soundtrack that the Mercedes M103 straight-six engine is well known for. The bright red paint colour is a favourite for many purchasers and the car will always be admired in any company.
Values of this model have been climbing steadily over recent years as a knock-on effect of the meteoric rise in prices of the earlier Pagoda model, and they show no sign of abating. Superb examples such as this one can therefore be thought of as a sound investment which is also a lovely thing to own and use.
We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car in our own workshop. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out (see above). A schedule of this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
