This is a lovely example of a W123 saloon, in one of the most popular colour and trim combinations. It is in superb condition throughout, both cosmetically and mechanically. The only blemishes we can find are a small amount of bubbling on the front edge of the bonnet to the offside of the radiator grille, a slight shading of the fabric on the right hand bolster on the driver’s seat back and a few minor scuffs to the alloy wheels. All the usual rust spots suffered by W123s generally are as clean as a whistle.

The only downside, and the reason this car does not appear on our main pages, is that the service book is fully stamped up to 72,000 miles but with no stamps since then, though we have been assured that it has been well maintained in the intervening period. Having examined it and driven it over 100 miles we can see that there is ample evidence of regular maintenance and we have no reason to doubt this. We have a large file of invoices, some as recent as 2005, and every MoT certificate from 1995 upto date, the current one being valid to December 2010, so the mileage is verifiable as much as for any other car. The bonus for the purchaser is that due to the gap in the documentation the asking price for this lovely vehicle is several thousand pounds less than it would otherwise be, with no tangible reduction in quality.

The car looks superb in the metallic pale gold colour, and could easily pass for a much younger vehicle. The paintwork is excellent, the interior virtually unmarked, and all fittings and equipment are present and working. It drives beautifully, and feels like a much lower mileage car. In view of the lack of recent documentation we will have a full service carried out prior to sale, so it will be ready for a further 6,000 miles without scheduled attention.

It has been checked over by our independent Mercedes specialist and will be supplied with a basic warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
