This beautiful and highly optioned saloon was purchased new in 1981 from Geyfords Mercedes-Benz of Tooting. It was delivered to a local owner who kept it for three years until 1984, and was then acquired by a lady in Croydon who kept it for a further 21 years until 2005. After this it was owned by another Croydon man for three years, and in early 2008 it finally passed to a friend of ours in Barnsley who is a keen Mercedes-Benz Club member and a serial W123 enthusiast, who has owned it until now.

The car was serviced by the supplying dealer upto 60,000 miles, with eight of their stamps in the book. After this there is one stamp from another London Mercedes dealer and another from a non-franchised garage in Croydon, for which we have the invoice. We also have nine old MoT certificates dating back to 1988.

When acquired by its latest owner it had not been used much in recent years, hence the very low mileage, and did warrant some recommissioning. He set about replacing all the components which are usually found deteriorated on lightly used cars, including injection head, injector seals, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, all brake calipers, hoses and pads.

The bodywork was still in very good original condition, but nevertheless in the quest for perfection he replaced both bumpers, bumper brackets, all chrome side mouldings, window rubbers and had some minor paintwork refurbishment carried out. The interior of the car was not touched as it was still immaculate.

Considerable sums have been spent returning this car to top condition, and all the invoices for parts purchased are in the history file together with an expenditure summary. There is also a photographic record of the cosmetic refurbishment. It now looks superb once more in the metallic pale green colour which suits the model so well, and it drives like a much younger car. Since carrying out the work he has covered 2,600 miles with complete reliability, and we have also enjoyed driving it at every opportunity.

The latest owner had intended this car to be a long term ownership proposition, and had even transferred his personal registration to it. However he was recently offered another Mercedes project and did not have storage space for both, so after less than two years of ownership we gladly snapped it up.

We have commissioned a comprehensive mechanical check of the car by our independent Mercedes-Benz specialist. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out. Invoices for this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
