There were only 789 E220 cabriolets officially delivered to the UK, and, being
a very expensive car to begin with, most were specified with very few optional
extras. The generous specification and low mileage of this car, plus the fact
that it is finished in the much sought after Green/Black metallic and is one of
the very last to be built, makes it very rare and desirable.
It was supplied new in November 1996 by Patrick Mercedes-Benz of Solihull
to a subsidiary of Great Universal Stores as a company car for a senior staff
member in the Manchester
area. He kept it until 2000 and had it serviced three times by Portmann
Mercedes-Benz of Manchester,
taking it upto around 30,000 miles. It was then purchased by a gentleman in
Worcestershire who kept it until 2008. He had it serviced four times by Stirling
Mercedes-Benz of Worcester.
Its third owner was a man from Harpenden who purchased it with the intention of
keeping it as a long term investment. During his time of ownership he had it
serviced once by a well known independent Mercedes specialist in St Albans. Sadly his work pattern changed unexpectedly
and necessitated him upping his annual mileage drastically, so rather than see
the car wasted on business motoring he reluctantly parted with it. We purchased
it from him in 2009 and supplied it to its latest owner, a director of an
international finance company, where it joined a stable of cars at his home in Sutton
Coldfield. He now spends most of his time working abroad and doesn't have much
chance to use his UK
based cars, so it is now available again. He only covered 3,000 miles during
his time of ownership but had it serviced once by Mercedes-Benz of Tamworth.
All servicing has been carried out at close to or before the recommended
intervals and it is all correctly stamped up in the service book. In addition
we have a printout of all work done during the first ownership, every invoice
from the second, third and fourth ownerships, and every old MoT certificate.
The car looks superb in the deep emerald paintwork, which appears as a
rich metallic black in most lighting conditions. It drives superbly, and is in pristine
condition throughout. It will be a continuing source of pleasure for its new
owner.
We have commissioned a comprehensive mechanical check of the car by our
independent Mercedes-Benz specialist. Any faults found have been remedied, and
any scheduled maintenance has been carried out. Invoices for this work will be
supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be
supplied on request.
