This lovely motor car was ordered new by Mercedes-Benz UK
in January 1991, presumably as a staff vehicle. Seven months later it was
purchased by a Mercedes-Benz technician at the Great West Road dealership in Brentford
under the staff purchase scheme. By this time it had 9,000 miles on the clock.
In June 1992 he transferred it to another member of his family at the same
address, who kept it until March 2010 by which time it had covered 89,000
miles. At this point it was purchased by a Mercedes-Benz Club member in Lancashire who has owned it until now.
The 190E model is such a handy and easy car to live with that as they
have got older most have been abused at the hands of a succession of uncaring
owners. This one has escaped that fate. It has always been sparingly used and
properly maintained by the right people at the correct intervals, and has
always had attention given when needed.
The service book stamps show that during its initial period as a MB staff
car, after its PDI inspection at MB headquarters in Milton Keynes, it was
serviced twice at MB dealers in London (Geyfords
of Tooting) and Perth
(Dicksons). After this it was serviced 12 times at the owner's workplace,
Mercedes-Benz of Brentford, and once at Mercedes-Benz of Chelsea. The latest owner has had it serviced
once at a non-franchised garage. All servicing has been carried out within a
few hundred miles of the recommended 6,000 miles interval, and in no case has
the servicing interval exceeded 18 months. We have all old MoT certificates
back to 2005 and several service and maintenance invoices.
The car looks superb in the elegant deep Burgundy metallic, which is virtually
unmarked, and the cream interior is absolutely as new. It has been maintained
without regard to expense by its previous owners, and as a result it drives
like a new car, with all controls tight and precise. It will withstand the
closest inspection of every component, and has the look and feel of a car that
has covered less than half its mileage.
We have commissioned a comprehensive mechanical check
of the car by our independent Mercedes specialist. Any faults found have been
remedied, and any scheduled maintenance has been carried out. Invoices for this
work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of
which can be supplied on request.
