This beautiful estate car, in the popular combination of metallic dark
blue with grey leather, was supplied new in September 1994 by Cruikshank
Mercedes-Benz of Bristol, but immediately went
to its first owner in Sussex.
It remained with owners in the Sussex,
Surrey and London area until 2005 when it came
north to a new owner in Altrincham, Cheshire.
After a further year with an owner in Staffordshire we had the opportunity to
purchase it.
The PDI was carried out by the supplying dealer, after which there are
eight stamps from MB dealers in the south-east taking it up to 65,000 miles in
2000. After this there are five stamps from an independent Mercedes specialist
in Surrey, one from a non-franchised garage in
Altrincham and two from an independent Mercedes specialist in Altrincham.
All servicing has been carried out at close to the correct mileage intervals,
with rarely more than around a year between services. We have had a full
checkover, major service and overhaul carried out by our independent Mercedes
specialist, including new genuine MB front wings, cylinder head gasket, engine
wiring loom, coil packs, front brake discs and pads, rear brake pads, front
lower suspension arms, gearbox cooler pipe, anti-roll bar bushes, V belt and
aircon regas, so it is now ready for many more years service with no
expectation of anything more than routine maintenance required.
Mercedes estate cars of this era have enormous load capacity coupled with
unrivalled comfort and driving pleasure. They effortlessly combine elegant
style and presence with supreme practicality. Most of them however, once past
the first few years of their lives, settled into a pattern of heavy and wearing
use as a family holdall or load hauler, with a consequent toll on condition
which makes them unsuitable for our purposes. This one has escaped that fate
and continues to shine on as an excellent example of the breed.
It is quite a rare car, both in having the desirable 3.2 litre engine and
being extremely well specified, with all of the popular optional extras
including leather, air conditioning, cruise control and the extra fold out
seats in the load area. This last feature makes the car every bit as versatile
as the currently popular people carriers, whilst being so much nicer to drive.
Condition can genuinely be described as excellent, with hardly a mark
internally or externally, everything in working order, and a driving experience
which one would expect from a car with a much lower mileage.
We have commissioned a comprehensive mechanical check of the car by our
independent Mercedes specialist. Any faults found have been remedied, and any
required maintenance has been carried out (see above). Invoices for this work
will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which
can be supplied on request.
