This gorgeous SL looks stunning in flawless metallic aquamarine, which is complemented by the unmarked cream leather interior and perfect original black soft top. The interior has that new car feel and shows no wear whatsoever. Everything about the car is totally original, and it looks, feels and drives absolutely as new.
We understand that the car was registered by Lancaster Mercedes-Benz of Hertford in February 1996 as a demonstrator, and went to its first private owner, a lady in Enfield, Middlesex, in May of the same year with a mileage of around 2,000. She used it very sparingly for the next 12 years and in January 2008 it passed to its second and latest private owner, a lady in Telford, Shropshire, with approximately 12,000 miles covered. She has added less than 5,000 miles during her two years of ownership. This lady and her husband have a small collection of interesting vehicles, including a classic Alvis which they campaign with the Vintage Sports Car Club, and they certainly know how to look after a car, but they are thinning the collection as they move seriously into classic boats, hence this one had to go.
Whilst with the first owner servicing has been carried out every few years by the supplying dealer, with eight of their stamps in the book along with one from an independent performance car specialist. The latest owner has had one service carried out by Mercedes-Benz of Shrewsbury. Servicing has been done on average at less than 2,000 mile intervals, with the largest mileage between servicing just over 4,000, as against the manufacturer's recommended 9,000 miles. It is only 2,000 miles since its last visit, so it is ready for a further 7,000 miles without scheduled attention. This must be one of the last opportunities to acquire a high specification, lightly used 1990s Mercedes SL for a sensible sum, now that the model's end-of-era quality and classic status are becoming well and truly recognised.
As well as the fully stamped service book we also have all old MoT certificates back to 2007 and almost every service invoice since the car was new.
We have commissioned a comprehensive mechanical check of the car by our independent Mercedes-Benz specialist. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out. Invoices for this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
